Review of the Special Recruitment Drive launched to fill up the backlog reserved vacancies of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs.

The achievement of the drive was reviewed in July, 2011 by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions as there was a large backlog of vacancies which were yet to be filled. The drive was re-launched to fill up the remaining identified backlog vacancies by the end of the financial year i.e. 31.03.2012. All Ministries/Departments were requested to make concerted efforts to ensure that the remaining backlog reserved vacancies of SCs, STs and OBCs were filled up by 31st March, 2012.

President promulgates Ordinance amending the Indian Medical Council Act 1956

Though the Board of Governors has been given an extension, the provisions of the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill 2013 have been modified in the Ordinance so that the Board can exercise the powers of the Council till the Central Government is able to reconstitute the Council within 180 days. In other words, the Government will have to re-constitute the Council latest by 10th November 2013.

In his comments on the plan performance of the State, Mr Ahluwalia said the commission is fully aware of the infrastructure deficit in the State and constraint in meeting the cost of infrastructure development. He said the State need to further encourage private sector participation in infrastructure development. Excise Duty free Sale of Goods Manufactured in India Allowed to International Passengers or Members of Crew Arriving from Abroad and to Passengers Going Out of India at The Duty free Shops Located at International Airports of the Country

Passengers or members of crew coming from aboard are entitled to a duty-free baggage allowance subject to the conditions specified in the Baggage Rules, 1998. DFSs located in the arrival halls sell duty-free imported goods. Indigenous goods are also being sold in the arrival halls, but they are not duty free. Passengers going out of India are permitted to purchase duty-free imported goods from DFSs located in the departure halls of international airports. However, excise duty-free indigenous goods are not available for sale in such DFSs. It is in this context that representations were received requesting to permit excise duty-free sale of goods manufactured in India both on the arrival side as well as the departure side so as to ensure parity with the imported goods and to promote brand INDIA.

Shri Shashi Kant Sharma Takes Over as CAG of India

Shri Shashi Kant Sharma assumed the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India here today. He took over this office after the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee administered him the oath of office and secrecy. He belongs to the 1976 batch of Indian Administrative Service (Bihar Cadre). Geologists Examination 2012 Result Of the Written Part Announced

The written result of the Geologists Examination, 2012 has been declared by the Commission and the same is available on the Commissions website, http://www.upsc.gov.in. It is informed that all the written qualified candidates are required to fill up and submit the Detailed Application Form (DAF) ONLINE followed by sending of ink signed copy of the printout of DAF along with their photographs and all relevant documents to the Commission. The DAF shall be available on the Commissions website from 01.06.2013 to 17.06.2013 till 11.59 P.M. Important Instructions for filling up and submitting the ONLINE DAF are also available on the website along with the Rules of Geologists Examination, 2012 . The last date for the receipt of printed copy of DAF (ink signed) along with relevant documents is 01.07.2013. In the event of non-receipt of ink signed copy of DAF, the candidature will be cancelled without any further notice. The candidates are also required to bring a printed copy of the DAF duly signed (by the candidate) along with original documents and a photocopy each thereof at the time of interview. The candidates must also check before hand their certificates in accordance with the important instructions available on the website of the Commission with regard to the certificates that are required to be produced at the time of Interview.The candidates will be solely responsible for not producing sufficient proof in support of his/her age, date of birth, educational qualification, caste (SC/ST/OBC) and physical disability status. The candidates shall be informed for their Personality Test, (likely to be held in the month of August, 2013) through e-mail followed by speed post. The details of Personality Test shall also be available on the Commissions website in due course.
