Exports
The total value of UK exports for the 12 months ending June 2010 was 242,486m, an increase of 9,278m (4.0 per cent) compared to the 12 months ending June 2009. During the same period the total value of exports for England rose by 4.0 per cent to 176,302m. Exports from Wales fell by 15.6 per cent to 8,666m, exports from Scotland rose by 5.2 per cent to 14,992m, and exports from Northern Ireland fell by 14.3 per cent to 4,981m.Within England, the South East had the largest total value of exports of 40,407m for the 12 months ending June 2010. The North East had the smallest total value of exports of 10,639m. The largest percentage change in the English regions for this period was for the East Midlands region which decreased by 9.1 per cent to 14,164m. Yorkshire and the Humber region had the smallest change, with an increase in exports of 1.9 per cent to 12,801m.The number of exporters in the UK for Quarter 2 2010 compared with the same quarter last year, decreased by 1.9 per cent to 49,719. Northern Ireland had the largest decrease of 7.3 per cent to 1,303. There were no regions or countries where the number of exporters increased.
Imports
The total value of UK imports for the 12 months ending June 2010 was 328,341m, an increase of 8,282m (2.6 per cent) compared to the 12 months ending June 2009. During the same period the total value of imports for England rose by 2.0 per cent to 263,038m. Imports to Wales fell by 24.3 per cent to 5,759m, imports to Scotland rose by 3.7 per cent to 11,075m and imports to Northern Ireland fell by 11.5 per cent to 4,865m.Within England, the South East has the largest total value of imports of 72,413m. The smallest total value for imports is in the North East of 7,965m. The largest percentage change for the English regions this period was for the North West region which decreased by 8.3 per cent to 22,876m. The smallest change was for the West Midlands region which saw a decrease of 0.3 per cent in imports to 20,478m.The number of importers in the UK for Quarter 2 2010 compared with the same quarter last year, decreased by 3.6 per cent to 69,937. Northern Ireland had the largest percentage decrease of 18.9 per cent to 1,565. There were no regions or countries where the number of importers increased.
