We have long admired Lighter Footstep for their thoughtful approach to living greener without breaking the bank, said Emily Murphy, MNN managing editor.
Launched in January 2009 by marketing specialist Joel Babbit, and Rolling Stones keyboardist and noted eco-vangelist Chuck Leavell, MNN is one of the Internets most recognized authorities for environmental news. With a network of more than 150 journalists, MNN has become a leading global Internet brand with visitors from more than 200 countries.
For the past three years, weve focused on creating practical, original content designed to help our readers make informed lifestyle choices, said Chris Baskind, Lighter Footstep publisher. Thats why MNN is the perfect destination for our work -- like us, theyre passionate about green living issues, and the quality of what they publish.
As part of the deal, existing content from Lighter Footstep will be merged with MNN. Lighter Footsteps articles will retain some of their original branding, with Baskind joining MNN as a contributing writer. Lighter Footsteps home page will eventually redirect to a special landing site within MNN.com. The process is underway, and should be complete within the next 30 days.
Lighter Footstep is a tremendous addition to MNN, and the timing could not be better. In late March, we are launching a Responsible Living category that is the perfect home for Lighter Footstep content and new stories from Chris Baskind, added Murphy.
